Forensic Neuropsychological Evaluations (also available in Mandarin and Cantonese)
Forensic or medical-legal neuropsychological evaluation (a.k.a. neuropsychology IMEs) involves a comprehensive assessment of an individual's cognitive and emotional functioning, as well as personality, in the context of civil or criminal legal proceedings to document, characterize and quantify cognitive problems, if present. In addition, it assesses to what extent an individual's cognitive and emotional challenges could be directly attributed to the incident that prompted legal proceedings. Furthermore, it documents the validity of an individual's self-report of his/her daily functioning; this includes an assessment of effort, response bias and the validity of psychological / psychiatric symptoms using standardized and empirically validated measures and techniques.
Forensic neuropsychological evaluations are instrumental in civil or criminal proceedings that question an individual's cognitive capacity at the time of the alleged crime, as well as competence to stand trial.
